Thank you from the USA.

vr sep 22, 2006 13:13

Greetings to all my fellow SCARB members.
Please excuse my English on this Dutch website.

Last weekend I traveled from the USA to attended the Spettacolo Sportivo in Zandvoort Holland with my ’72 Giulia Super that I purchased a few weeks before. I was a bit apprehensive about attending this event alone but those worries were quickly forgotten when I arrived at the track. I met so many fantastic and welcoming Alfisit that I felt as though I was at home with my some best friends. The event exceeded all of my expectations. I was amazed at how well organized the event was and how many extraordinary Alfas were on display in the paddock and were tearing around the track.

I would like to thank everyone I met and all those who put in so much time and hard work to make the event such a success.

I joined SCARB and now proudly display the club sticker and grill badge on my Alfa here in the USA. I hope to return to the even next year and rather then just attend I would like to volunteer my help in any way needed.

My Giulia will arrive here in the US in a few weeks and will be a constant reminder of my blissful weekend in Zandvoort.

I posted some photos from the event on a website here: http://web.mac.com/fredfrey

Hi Fred,

It seems like you finally found your way on this forum.
Also once again a warm welcome to the SCARB, and the forum ofcourse.

It was great meeting you.
Also good to hear that you had a great weekend at our event.

Any help by volunteers at the next Spettacolo is always welcome.
There might be a 50/50 chance that i'll also be volunteering.

Ciao, Arjan.

Hello Fred,

Nice to have such an enthousiast Yank within SCARB. I think I spotted your car last monday in Capelle a/d Ijssel near Rotterdam, close to where I work.
I saw your car on the Zandvoort track (not difficult with all that primer and filler) and recognised it when i drove in Capelle the day after (at least, i don't think there are not much other giulia's that look like this one)
Succes with your restauration and many happy miles!

Yes, that was me!

The Giulia should be loaded on the ship on the 26th of September and land in the US on October 20th.
Then it's time to get to work on her. Can anyone recommend the best place to order Giulia specific parts? I may need some body panels and trim parts.

-Fred

Hi Fred, online shopping is probably easiest at www.prinsbredevoort.nl Always fast shipping parts. Don't know if Henk Prins was there in Zandvoort.

Good guys with large stock!
Thanks guys. Both companies look great.
I'll be making a big list of parts needed when the car comes home.

How different is the suspension on the Giulia Super from the GTV?
GTV parts are easy to get here in the USA and it also saves me the extra costs of shipping and dollar to Euro conversion.

Fred,

Just take Dave Pratt with you next year and some other friends from the USA.
Enjoy the weekend like you did this year and give this event a special notification to your friends world wide..

I am sure that will be enough to help for the event..

I am glad you and Todd had a nice weekend
